Edith Road

Seacombe, Wirral

Property had been vacant since April 2010 and was acquired by the owner as part of a business deal; owner planned to use the property as his permanent residence but was residing with elderly mother and spending time at the property infrequently as required central heating, new windows, and electrical rewire along with general updating to make property habitable. A number of enquiries were also received from local councillors regarding the appearance of the property.

Following a meeting with the owner decided to pursue option of applying for £3,000 Empty Property Grant to assist with cost of bringing property to Decent Homes Standard through renovation works estimated at a cost of around £10,000. This was in conjunction with property benefitting from installation of solid wall insulation as part of a programme being undertaken by British Gas. Following completion of refurbishment activity property was occupied by the owner in January 2013.
