10 Church Street, Prescot

The building is located in the town centre immediately adjacent to the Prescot THI Scheme. The registered owner of the property successfully applied for planning permission to convert the building into five self contained flats in December 2013.

However, the property remained empty due to the owner’s other property commitments in Liverpool City Centre with no plans to commence work in the near future.

To facilitate this development, Strategic Housing engaged with the owner to discuss the LOTS conditions, namely timescales and the five year affordable housing criteria. Consequently works commenced in January 2015, with a large team being deployed on-site which enabled works to completed to a high standard by 31st March 2015.

The property, once office space, is now fully renovated, including a re-wire, secondary glazing, new heating systems, up-rating fire safety systems and now provides five contemporary one bedroom flats in the centre of Prescot.

In addition, the owners have sympathetically restored the exterior of the building in keeping with the age of the building and surrounding area and created a pleasant external communal area for the residents.

The project was funded through a combination of the Council grant, the owner’s private investment and the HCA Empty Homes Cluster Fund.
